ABOUT SOMERSET LEARNING CENTER
Our Philosophy
The goal of the Somerset Learning Center is to help develop students of all abilities into more competent and self-confident learners. With appropriate instruction, each student can learn and improve, and we have assembled excellent educators, a structured environment and a practical approach that enable our students to achieve academic success. We believe that students’ needs are best met through an individual learning program that is flexible to include supplemental instruction, tutoring, and/or enrichment. The Center’s private tutors are sincerely committed to academic excellence, and have helped thousands of students improve academic skills, build self-confidence, and acquire the love of learning!
Why choose the SOMERSET LEARNING CENTER?
At the Somerset Learning Center, our students take THE RIGHT STEP TO ACADEMIC SUCCESS! Here are some reasons why:

- The flexibility to combine several subject areas into a student’s program, including homework support.
- Contact with the classroom teacher or guidance counselor when requested.
- Instruction for students with learning difficulties based on the Orton-Gillingham method for reading and spelling.
- Twenty-three years of experience providing tutoring services and a demonstrated record of success, stability and accomplishment!
- Individually owned and operated, the Center is not part of a franchise.

Each of the highly qualified personal tutors cares about the education of children and is dedicated to helping each student achieve academic success, gain self-confidence, and become a motivated learner. Teachers are paired with students based on their specialties. To create a stable and consistent learning environment, all attempts are made to maintain these pairings.
Our Educational Plan
Our educational plan consists of the following components:
- Skills Assessment - Students take an initial skills assessment for determine baseline skills. This diagnosis of a student's strengths and weaknesses as well as parental concerns and goals are utilized to develop a personal learning program for each student.
- Individual Instruction - Instruction is provided by certified and experienced teachers and can include several subject areas. Sessions are limited to two to three students per tutor in a private room. The frequency of weekly sessions and the length of the program are determined by each student’s specific goals.
- Progress - It is a priority at the Center to maintain an open flow of communication with parents. Parents are informed of their child’s progress through frequent, informal conferences with teachers as well as periodic progress reports. Parents are also encouraged to communicate with the Center’s staff to share their observations, needs, or concerns.
